| Biennale International Architecture Exhibition
The architecture section of
the Biennale of Venice was
established on its own in
1980, although a few
exhibitions had taken place
since 1975 within the Arts
section. Ten editions have
taken place since, each with
its own particular theme,
from the subject of the
Stucky mill, now being
restored, back in 1975, to
METAMORPH, title of the ninth
edition which, in 2004,
attracted over 115,000
visitors. Theme for the 2006
edition is “Cities,
architecture and society”.

Pistoia, in Tuscany, in 1950,

started to execute miniature
models of his machines using

Venice Design was founded in
1976 to create the
furnishings and decor of the
Italian Room at the Palais
Berlaimont in Brussels,
designed for the E.E.C. by
the architect Piero Mainardis
de Campo.
In 1986 Venice Design decided
to open in Venice, exhibiting
sculpture, painting, graphic
work and design, first at San
Samuele and later in 1990 at
a second gallery in calle
Vallaresso. In addition to
continuing its activity in
the fields of restoration,
decoration and interior
design, Venice Design has
organized over one hundred
exhibitions of leading modern
and contemporary artists.
Aside from great masters, the
galleries also hold
